UMBI Responds to H1N1 Swine Flu Outbreak Print Print   Email Email  

University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) has been reviewing and monitoring the situation with the H1N1 swine flu outbreak closely. UMBI has made this page available to inform the UMBI community about the issue. This page provides helpful links to websites where more current information can be obtained.

The UMBI Infectious Disease Response Team met on April 30th and is following the situation closely. Currently the UMBI operating status and actions are as follows:

  • UMBI facilities and units are operating as normal.
  • Employees and students are encouraged to review all advice and procedures for staying healthy and to follow them.
  • Employees who feel ill, and especially those who have a fever, should seek medical care and NOT report to work.
  • UMBI Centers now possess masks and hand sanitizing station to be used as necessary.
  • UMBI infectious disease emergency telephone line has been established at 410-385-6329 where questions can be asked and issues addressed.
  • UMBI has now activated an emergency alert notification system and all UMBI employees and students are encouraged to register at http://www.umbi.umd.edu/alerts/erp.php.
